La Chaumine is a unique, charming and sunny chalet for 36 guests offering the most stunning views on the magnificent mountain range of La Meije.
La Chaumine is located on a south faced flank opposite the magnificent mountain range of La Meije, in the authentic hamlet of Ventelon at 1800m. It is only a five-minute drive from the town of La Grave La Meije that is a world famous paradise for off-piste skiing.
The Chalet is a former hotel famous among extreme skiers. The chalet was fully renovated in 2012 retaining its original character. La Chaumine is easily accessible located only one hour drive from Grenoble and two hours drive from Lyon and Turin Airport. Both in winter and summer, it is the perfect base for a wide array of activities.
The area is a well-known cycling paradise (road and MTB). La Chaumine is situated just off the famous Cols du Lautaret and Galibier, and only 20 minutes drive from many other mythical climbs such as L’Alpe-Duez and Col de L’Izoard.
Furthermore La Grave is the perfect area for hiking, swimming in pristine mountain lakes, rock climbing, paragliding, rafting, cannoning, fishing, via ferrata, yoga and laid back family entertainment. The town offers many events organised throughout the year.
La Chaumine offers a total sleeping capacity for 36 guests and is available for exclusive rental per week or for long weekends. Housekeeping and catering services are available upon request.
All rooms, displayed over four floors, offer stunning views on the magnificent North Face of La Meije. The Chalet has been recently refurbished to meet high standards of luxury with en-suite bathrooms, fine bedding, fireplaces, wifi, music, professionally equipped kitchen, sauna, large sun-deck for yoga sessions and laid-back entertainment. Yet, it has maintained its authentic charm and slightly bohemian feel.
The bottom floor comprises four large double rooms with bay windows offering beautiful views on the surrounding mountains, en-suite bathrooms (three baths, one shower), terraces, a sauna with view on la Meije, a separate shower room and a perfectly equipped skiroom.
The ground floor comprises two living areas and two huge yet cosy dining areas, a reading/gaming area, a memorable bar, two fireplaces, a professionally equipped kitchen, a lavatory, movie screen, stereo and a very large south facing terrace surrounding the chalet. The parking space can accommodate up to eight cars.
The first floor comprises two very large double rooms with en-suite bathroom (baths), and three smaller yet very cosy double rooms with en suite shower rooms and separate toilets, as well as two rooms with bunk beds (sleeping two) and a separate toilet. All rooms have the same stunning views of La Meije.
The second floor comprises one very large double room with en suite bathroom (shower) which can accommodate a third mattress/cod, two very large family rooms which can each accommodate up to 6 persons (three single beds on the base floor and three mattresses in the respective attics), each with very large bathrooms (two sinks, toilet and bath/shower). There is also a separate toilet in the corridor.
All rooms have high quality beds and bedding. There are plenty of cushions, comfortable plaids, cosy rugs and pleasant tableware and decoration, plenty of coat hangers and sufficient storage space on all floors.
The manager, Nathalie Sieffert, lives at a stone’s throw from the chalet and can provide housekeeping and catering services upon request. She can also provide you with information regarding shops, restaurants, guides, ski school, ski rental, massage etc.
